ATKINSON COMMERCIAL SERVICES commenced in October 1994, but the firm's knowledge and expertise goes back well beyond that.

We have a commercial background in the finance, credit and legal fields in Adelaide that goes back over 30 years. Our current main activity is Process Serving, but we are also licensed as Security Agents and Investigation Agents.

The firm is run by Spon Pty Ltd, of which Philip Atkinson is the sole director. Phil runs the operational side of the business. His Agent’s Licence was first issued in 1972 (ISL 74). The company’s licence number is ISL 181472.

Phil's background is essentially credit-oriented. He has worked for organisations such as Dun & Bradstreet, has completed a course in Credit & Financial Analysis and was previously a Fellow in the South Australian Institute of Credit Management. More recently, he has been Adelaide credit manager for an Australia-wide finance company and in that capacity and subsequently, has dealt with various financial institutions over a number of years.

He later worked for over seven years with a well-known Adelaide-based investigation company, before entering into a similar partnership for some three years. In 1994, he and Joanne Atkinson decided to operate their own business. Joanne resigned in February 2004 and Philip has continued on under the “Spon” banner.

Shortly after commencement, the business expanded and has continued to grow. In recent years, the firm acquired S & B Mercantile Agents, together with their client base and this has assisted growth considerably.

As a whole, our staff have considerable expertise in the investigation and allied fields and with their various backgrounds, add a wealth of "incidental" knowledge that is invaluable.

Added to this is "local knowledge" - so vital to the success of this firm and which is of immeasurable value to our clients.
